Responsibilities
The West Columbia Volunteer Fire Department is responsible for providing an efficient and effective delivery of fire, rescue, and life safety emergency services.
The Fire Department also strives to improve the quality of life for City residents by providing public education, community relations events, and ongoing training for firefighters.
Goals
The primary goals of the Fire Department are to:
- Reduce and prevent the loss of life and property damage
- Improve the outcome of patients
- Quickly rescue trapped victims
- Protect the environment from destruction
The WCVFD is looking for volunteer firefighters. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older; in good physical condition; live within 3 miles of driving distance from the city limits or any WCVFD station; & must submit to a background check & physical. If interested, contact any member of the WCVFD for an application or pick up an application at City Hall.
