Scientific name: Delphinium consolida

Description and Characteristics: Annual. It is a member of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). Flowers are irregularly shaped and bloom in a loose, vertical grouping along the upper end of the plant's main stalk. They are almost as complex as orchids. Larkspur is actually a very complex flower consisting of both petals and sepals.

Some say that Larkspur is the annual version of Delphinium.

Size: 1.5 feet

Flower: Spring. White, pink, blue, lavender.

Requirements: Sun to partial shade, drought-tolerant. It likes cool weather.
