Scientific name: Solidago canadensis

Description and characteristics: Perennial that blooms in October. Goldenrod does not cause hay-fever. Its pollen is too heavy to be carried by the wind. Bees, birds, and butterflies are attracted to it. It is attractive in meadows.

This is a Texas native plant.

Size: 2-6' tall

Flower and fruit: Yellow flowers

Requirements: Sunny to partly shady locations.
